Many men grow beards, whether it’s a little stubble, a handlebar moustache or a fully grown ZZ Top kind of beard. However, most beard balms and grooming products in shops tend to be made with chemicals. And even some ‘natural brands’ contain beeswax (not vegan) and are sold in plastic packaging. Here are some vegan, natural and zero waste alternatives (recycle any plastic tops with household waste). Avoid essential oils for allergies, avoid rosemary oil for epilepsy and avoid shea butter for latex allergies.
Around 20% of men have full beards, and many more have short beards or stubble. Although beards do protect quite a lot from the sun, it’s still best to use a natural sunscreen to protect other skin. It 2 to 4 months to grow a beard (or 6 years for a ZZ Top beard). In Victorian times, beards were prescribed as ‘medicine’ to prevent harmful particles entering the mouth. They do eliminate irritated skin and acne for many. Use these products with Beard Trimming Scissors (in plastic-free packaging) and a double-sided beard comb (made from peach wood, also in plastic-free packaging).
